2:22PM - whitby accommodation

Does anyone know of spare accommodation for Whitby ? A couple who are good friends of mine have been let down at the last minute by something they booked months ago. They're trying all the usual ringing around, but it's not looking good at the moment.

They're lovely people and no trouble. If you know of anything please say.

1:45PM - I'm going to cry...

Literally dozens upon dozens of calls, and nothing in Whitby for the Gothic Weekend.

The nearest B&B we can get is in *Sleights*.

I've been offered large, ergo very expensive houses in Newholm, Dunsley, Robin Hood's Bay, Hawkser - all about an hour's walk from Whitby.

I leapt with joy when we were offered something (VERY expensive though) in Ruswarp, which is 1.5 miles away, and walkable..... but Brian won't let me book it. He's adamant we're going to get something IN Whitby.

We are NOT going to get anything in Whitby. It is simply not going to happen. Brian thinks the Magic Accomodation Fairy is going to appear and wave her wand; that is really not going to occur.

The exact words from the Whitby Tourist board when I said I had been offered something in Ruswarp was "Snap it up straight away". But Brian says no it has to be Whitby or nothing.....

We are going to end up NOT going to the Whitby Gothic Weekend.

I can't believe this has happened to us twice. I book over six months in advance EVERY SINGLE TIME, I *NEVER* leave it till the last minute, God must really hate me.

And I'm UTTERLY pissed off. Brian promised me this morning he'd be happy with anything I found; then did nothing but turn down EVERY SINGLE (admittedly, lousy) OPTION I phoned him up with. I don't think he REALISES that every single lousy, too expensive, too far out etc lead I rang him with took ME about six calls to get...... but he's not willing to do it himself, he says he can't use the phone at his work, so I have to sort something for us.

I really feel sick and so fed up I could weep.

I'm reaching the stage I just don't want to go now. Well, hey, there's a Magic Wish a fairy might well be able to wave her wand and make happen.

Current mood: depressed

12:42PM - *snarl*

I cannot begin to describe how fucking livid I am about the decision to overturn Lewis Hamilton's win at Spa. The FIA having its tongue wedged firmly up Ferrari's back passage has now gone way beyond covert. I expect notification of their official engagement within the week.

I'm no huge fan of Hamilton, but Raikkonen pushed him off the track at the chicane, then was given the place back. Hamilton drove quite fairly and skilfully, Massa had no chance whatsoever of catching Hamilton as long as he kept it on the track, and Raikkonen crashed anyway. I am completely stumped as to what the supposed advantage Hamilton gained actually was.

I wonder how much of a dent the bribe made in Ferrari's coffers? Good job they're rich. The one bright spot in the whole farrago is that Raikkonen stuck his car in the wall.

11:51AM - I Woz There

The weekend was a bit of a blur really.

Friday night, I went to a screening of our "Dial M For Murder" performance - attended by all the cast. So strange, sitting and watching it all. But at the same time hilarious. It was filmed during the dress rehearsal, and a few bits went wrong.

Saturday afternoon, I made my way to Old Street, to the base unit for "Minder". I was the only one with a 3pm call time, and I sat alone for 3 hours. It gave me time to learn some lines for Dracula (which was needed!!) So 6pm, I was taken to the filming location, where I met the rest of the cast, including Shane Ritchie, and Josette Simon (who played Dayna in Blakes 7, many moons ago). So, there I was, made up as Banksy, worrying about what to draw. But luckily I didn't actually have to spraypaint anything! Coincidentally, we passed one of Banksy's bits of art, on the way back to base.

Yesterday, got called by my agent (yes, on a Sunday!), setting up 2 days work on 'Holby City'.

Last night was spent patching things up with the Turk, before she goes home. We're parting on good terms. Talking of which, must dash. I'm helping her take her luggage to the airport!

10:00AM - Sure plays a mean pinball....

Blergh! Marvellous weekend but now I have a stinky cold with inflated head and semi deafness to compound my usual monday morning malaise. bah. might go home at lunchtime as I'm pretty damned useless here...

Flock and gig were ace on Friday - lots of people, great atmosphere and general fun fun fun. Was really good to finally see Rome Burns live - Simon is a great front man - when there was a technical difficulty he treated us to a stanza of the Doug Anthony Allstars classic, 'I fuck dogs' (it's on you tube...) Saturday afternoon was relatively productive. Then my guests and I ate all the cheese and meat on earth. woo! Which meant I was pretty uncomfortable in my corset at the burlesque. great night though - we had the artist formerly known as carrington on (goes under his real name of wayne speed now) who was brill as ever - his chav skit was very good. The place was rammed and the atmosphere was pleasant too :)

Sunday bought groaning and ligging and a giant buzzathon. all good. then chinese foo, Eddy missing his train home and a general decamping to black sheep. Saw off the Huntingdon contingent (and Fuzzy! woo it's odd having him living in leeds now :D ) and ligged pleasantly on bean bags for a catch up with Eddy.

I even managed to log on and do some work when I got home, and I changed the tax codes and stuff at the club - woo - go me!

*goes back to being deaf and having a SAP consultant in*
EH?

3:43PM - Z0 seek additional live keyboard player!!!! :D

Hello

Zeitgeist Zero are seeking to expand their current live line-up and at the moment we are looking for a person who can play piano/keyboards and sing backing vocals. You will work alongside our existing ivory tickler, Kerry Von Null who sadly only has one pair of hands.

The ideal person must be:

1) Be able to play piano to a reasonable standard, but like the excitement of synths.

2) Reliable, dedicated and able to attend rehearsals once a week.

3) Look damn good while doing the above. *winks*

Own transport an advantage, but not essential.

You don't have to like the same music as us and people from all musical backgrounds are welcome to present their different style.

To get in touch email: contact@zeitgeistzero.com

If you've ever wanted to sip pink champagne from a show girls tassle in the back of one of our many limos, now's your chance!

All the best, Teresa Dead xxx

1:00AM - a deprived 1950s childhood?

Watching the episode of 'Dad's Army' tonight 'crisps' were mentioned and it got me thinking about when exactly they were invented (turns out to be 1853). Rog and I then began discussing the differences in our childhood. He lived much closer to the centre of Leeds with lots of 'corner shops' on his doorstep. I, on the other hand, had a posher start in life and lived on the outskirts of the city in what was in those days a bit like the edge of nowhere. It was a small private estate of semis and we had one shop. I hardly recall going shopping anywhere as a young child and when I was old enough, which in those days was about ten or eleven, I took the bus into Leeds with my friends every Saturday. I think my mother, who didn't go out to work until i was older, relied on the one shop plus various mobile shops and tradespeople who brought fruit and veg, tea, fish, lemonade etc to the door. Before I started big school at the age of 12 (it should have been eleven but I was in hospital that year) I don't really recall eating crisps at all although I suppose I must have had the odd bag on special occasions. Our one and only shop didn't sell them, it was a grocers, so it sold biscuits. It was a few years before the second shop was built which was a newsagent and sold sweets, so in the early days the big treats for us to spend our pocket money on were Marshmallow treatsin their various forms... in their red & silver foil and as Wagon Wheels. When I got a bit older I crossed over to the wrong side of the tracks (ie the Ring Road) ;) and hung around the chip shop on the adjacent council estate with all the bad boys eating chips and chewing gum. Roger remember eating crisps when he was this age but the first time I really remember them figuring in my life was when I lived in Bradford in the mid sixties during my first year at Art College when we all got very excited about Seabrooks. Roger's main memories of eating crisps at this age was when the family would walk to the nearby pub and sit out on benches with the kids having crisps and lemonade. My equivalent 'outside the pub' outings were at the village pub in Naburn where one took a jug into the pub and they filled it with beer. I think the lemonade came by the glass though. We used to sometimes carry the jug of beer back to have with Sunday lunch at my grandma's house which was very close by. Ice cream was also sold 'loose' back then. You could take a container and buy it by the scoop. Same with sherry, you took in an empty bottle and bought it by the pint or half pint at the off license. And butter was cut from a big block and wrapped in greasproof, biscuits were weighed out and put in bags, as was flour and sugar.

3:41PM - Shine On

ohh the sun is shining. Shattered after work. I've got to admit they did play some good music. Generally indie witha few old gems slapped in there with only a few dodgy hip hop songs :) It was stupidly busy as well for such a rainy night.

METAL!!!! then Electro and cheesy pop tonight.  should be an interesting mix hehe.

9:20PM - new weird pregnancy thing!

I think I might end up with an innie instead of an outie soon. My tummy button has been looking weird for a while, where it's all squashed out from the inside. But today it has been feeling really odd!

I wonder if I end up with an outie if it will go back in afterwards? I will keep you all posted ;)

Current mood: silly

5:07PM - what bloody awful weather!

Wet dogs, wet clothing, waterlogged garden :(

We had to cheer ourselves up for the second day running with pancakes :)

And we're having a takeaway tonight as requested by Ben whose arrival is imminent. He's coming to install our new state-of-art media centre while Kirsty is working a late shift.

And in the morning we have tree-surgeons coming to take down two tall trees. (goat willows) which we suddenly noticed were looking rather precarious. One is apparantly dead and the other has lots of dead looking lower limbs. I wonder if they have drowned on account of how waterlogged the garden is where they are. Taking down large trees must be a dicey job at the best of times but doing it and removing the brash in this kind of weather must be even worse. When they are gone it should make a bit of difference to that part of the garden. But there is so much more tree pruning yet to be done by ourselves over the next few weeks/months.

5:01PM - Tomorrow, Matthew, I'm going to be a vandal.

Yay, a day's work tomorrow! On the new version of "Minder", and it involves spray paint :)

Can't say more than that, except I'm meant to be well known...

Guess I'll head off round Balham to practice some tags, and hone my artistic flair in time for tomorrow afternoon. (If anyone sees "Jock woz 'ere" anywhere, it wasn't me. OK?)

Have a fab weekend!

Jock

Current mood: artistic

4:52PM

For the first time in my life, I've survived a full time job, done it well enough that I got taken out for lunch, given a bottle of champagne, got a bonus, asked to not go back to school so as I could stay doing it and basically demanded I go back next summer.

I'm rather chuffed... School starts on monday... I am insanely excited!

Shame the universe is going to end when they switch the Large Hadron Colider on next wednesday... Damned Physicists! ;-)

4:02PM - Its weeing it down!

Hmm i think work will be rather slow tonight if the rain keeps doing what its doing :)

Current mood: cranky
